Because We Care

Because we care, and wanted Tasmanian Soap Farm to have a light footprint, we’ve gone to considerable effort to source eco-friendly, high-quality, cost-effective packaging and stationery to benefit all of us and Mother Earth.

Skin Care Soap & Toothsoap Packaging

To help save our planet, our skin care soaps (and their packaging) are biodegradable, ethical, eco-friendly and sustainable. We purchase our packaging (and have it printed with eco-certified ink) right here in Tasmania. Our cardboard soap boxes are 100% PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and also certified as an SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative). They are recyclable and compostable, as is the swing tag textile, made from Australian cotton. The cardboard box for our toothsoap packaging is also PEFC certified and has the additional accreditation with Responsible Forestry Practices (RFP). It is food grade and free from chlorine. And most importantly, the contents of the soaps themselves are squeaky clean and green and won’t harm the natural environment from wastewater.

Mailing Boxes

We purchase our natural-brown kraft cardboard mailing boxes from an Australian company. They are 100% eco-friendly biodegradable, reusable and made from 70% recycled materials.

Cushioning & Wrapping

We use natural wood wool as efficient, economical cushioning for our products. It is environmentally friendly as it’s derived from what would otherwise be wasted Tasmanian plantation-grown timber. It is also easily disposed of, unlike other packaging materials.
Wood wool can be re-used many times over. It can also be used as garden mulch or as heating fuel. Even if it is buried as garbage it quickly breaks down just as it would in a forest. Not only does it look and smell good, it’s also good for our planet!

We sometimes use Australian-sourced natural-brown kraft tissue paper to avoid products rubbing together in bags or boxes. It is acid-free, biodegradable and recyclable.

TAPE

To tape our cardboard cartons, we use Australian-sourced, high quality solvent-free natural-brown kraft tape (favoured by picture framers). The core is made from recycled paper. The manufacturer uses the following ‘environmental response’ logo.

To join the ecobands on our naked soaps (coming soon), we use Enviro Tape. It is a is biodegradable, non-static tape made from regenerated wood pulp (also known as cellulose). We chose it because it is an environmentally friendly option.

STATIONERY

Our stationery is by Australian companies. We use 100% recycled natural-brown, unbleached A4 paper and matching envelopes.
We have our compliments slips and contact cards printed in Tasmania on 100% recycled stock with vegetable-based inks.
They are all kind to our environment.

Taking the extra care to locate the most eco-friendly, non-toxic packaging and stationery is an important value for us. If everyone in the consumer chain plays their part when it comes to offering (and ‘consuming’) environmentally safe product, or service’ packaging and stationery then surely everyone can benefit. Isn’t a clean, green, pristine earth what we all want?
